Some of our "personalities!"

John P. McConnochie, Owner

Yep; this is John in front of Auke Lake looking towards the Mendenhall Glacier (he hates his picture taken; see below). John is a true entrepreneur; in business, in athletics, and in team building.

John and his wife PeggyAnn have lived  and worked in Juneau since 1980. John came to Juneau to work with Jamie Parsons at the Juneau Racquet Club. Later he and Jamie bought the Club and then developed another JRC location in downtown Juneau. Jamie and John sold the Clubs about 2001.

In 2005 John and PeggyAnn bought a "little cycling tour company." Since that time John has grown Cycle Alaska into one of the most popular active tours in Juneau serving every cruise ship that docks here.

And now in March 2010 they have just opened a retail bike and repair shop!

Born in New Zealand, John represented his home country in the Munich and Montréal Olympics in swimming. Since then John competes in everything from running,  masters swimming, triathlons, adventure racing and road cycling. (Yea, crazy guy!)

He has a passion for helping youth find their greatness as people and as athletes. John coached the high school swimming team for 4 years. He was also involved with the Juneau Freewheelers Youth Cycling Club.

Mark S. Tinney; Operations Manager

(Mark says Duke is better looking than he is!) Originally from the East Coast, Mark came to Alaska 3 years ago for the fishing and the snow. He has a diverse background--everything from the military, truck driving, chemical manufacturing, the mental health field, and more--and has been with Cycle Alaska since '07. He is currently the Operations Manager. He holds a BA from Villanova University. Mark is also a playwright, composer, and pianist. Not your typical renaissance man! Cycle Alaska is lucky to have Mark leading the team! (Mark I need another picture!)

Lou Edwards (we have to figure out a title that fits everything he does!)

Lou is a "been there done that got the t-shirt" guy especially with bike stuff and that is why we love to have him around! Plus, he has a great sense of humor! Stop by and see what we mean!

(And he is married to Carole! Hi Carole!)

Chad Howard, Mechanic

From Chad...I couldn't write this well! I’m 24 years old and I have been riding, racing, and breaking bikes since before I can remember. You might say I have a two wheeled addiction to both motorcycles and bikes. I grew up in Orange County, California riding every chance I had and everywhere from Laguna Beach to Mammoth Mountain and east to Moab, Utah. I came up to Juneau in January 2008 to attend the University of Alaska Southeast where I’ll be graduating from in May, 2010 and began working at Cycle AK in April 2009. In a nutshell, bikes are my thing and as everybody around here has heard at one time or another, if it has two wheels chances are I’ve ridden it, raced it, crashed it, and broken it and because of that now know how to fix it.

Vicky Orozco, Mechanic

Hey Vicky, I need that bio! :-)

She is mechanic extraordinaire and Vicky is there to help you find the right solutions for your biking needs! She is knowledgeable as to which of our on bike and off bike accessories are best for you too!

Duke, Cycle Alaska's official Lead Dog :-)

Born July of 2009, Duke is Mark's dog, or should I say Mark thinks that he owns Duke but frankly I think it is the other way around. :-) You will find Duke wherever Mark is so stop by and say hello to Duke!
