Three great tours in one affordable package:

Biking, Glacier and Beer Tasting!

Your guides meet you at your ship and take you for a scenic van ride to your first stop in the back of the Mendenhall Valley. During the drive your guides provide you with historical information on the founding of Juneau, some of their favorite stories about Juneau, and what you are seeing along the way.  Our guides, who all live in Juneau, range in age from 15 to 72 which makes for a variety of interesting experiences to share. They also love to answer your questions as you make your way to the set up area. The set up area is where you are fitted with your helmet, bike, given water bottles; and rain gear and gloves if necessary. We will also spend time going through  the equipment with you and giving everyone a safety talk.

You begin our 8.5 mile ride near Auke Lake with your first camera stop at Chapel by the Lake, a quaint older log chapel with a lovely view of the Mendenhall Glacier across Auke Lake; marvel at the scenic views of the Lake and surrounding mountains and Glacier. Your ride continues through the University of Alaska at Juneau Campus located in a glacier carved valley. Then you stop for another spectacular view of the Mendenhall Glacier at the beach of Mendenhall Lake on the West side of this mighty  Glacier. This is another great place to take pictures.

While at the beach, your guides help to explain the Juneau Icefield and the Mendenhall Glacier areas, and answer your questions. After a rest, snack, click of your camera, and a beverage, ride to the East side of the Mendenhall Glacier for a stop near the Visitor's Center. There you will take a short walk to the see the majestic Mendenhall Glacier from a much closer perspective. There is a wonderful covered viewing area which looks straight on to the Mendenhall Glacier for you to enjoy. On the way visit a nearby stream where in the late summer months you can see salmon spawning and once in a while you can even see bears snacking on the spawning salmon. More fantastic picture taking!

Then, take your van to Downtown Juneau's old sea plane hangar Merchant's Wharf, a waterfront landmark in aviation history, for a tasting of award winning beers from micro-breweries across Alaska.

Afterwards, either explore Downtown and return to your Ship independently, or relax in your van for the quick return trip to your Ship.

Notes:  For the beer presentation you must be at least 21 or accompanied by a legal guardian or parent. And, you must be at least 21 to participate in the beer tasting.

This is  a great family priced tour with good value for the money and time spent. Guests have the advantage of viewing the Mendenhall Glacier from 3 very different locations while having a fun bike ride, and a snack break, and getting a unique beer and Wharf experience. Everything is included - but not your camera so bring it and plenty of film or extra memory cards! There is something in this tour for everyone!
